The David Window

“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and He shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land…And this is the name by which He will be called: ‘The Lord is our righteousness.’ ” (Jeremiah 23:5-6)

This window reflects the reign of King David, God’s presence with His people, and God’s promise that a descendant of David would always sit on his throne.  When he was anointed, David did not appear like a king, but God gave him a throne to rule His people.  And He brought forth Jesus, the Son of David, to rule over all eternally.

When Jesus came as a poor babe in a manger, few recognized Him as the promised King, either.  But those who did bowed down and worshiped Him.  They still do.  He is a King present with His people, and His rule is one of love, faithfulness, wisdom, justice, peace, and righteousness.  He is the King of kings and Lord of lords and He reigns forevermore!

“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!”  (Psalm 95:6)
